Galaxy Einstein Ring

COSMIC MESSAGE
The galaxy SDP.81 sits so precisely behind a foreground galaxy that its light is pulled into a near-perfect ring. This effect, called an Einstein Ring, happens because the foreground galaxy's gravity acts like a lens. The Hubble Space Telescope observed the foreground galaxy in blue, while the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) captured the background galaxy in red radio waves.
