Sunset at Edmontonhenge

On September 18, the setting sun aligned with Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This alignment, sometimes called "Edmontonhenge," happens twice a year near the equinoxes. Edmonton's streets are laid out on a grid that is almost perfectly oriented to the cardinal directions. This photograph, taken from the middle of the street, captures the moment the sun illuminated both sides of the brick and steel canyon.
