COSMIC MESSAGE
The Porpoise Galaxy, NGC 2936, is being pulled apart by its close encounter with the massive elliptical galaxy NGC 2937. This Hubble Space Telescope image shows the spiral galaxy's distorted shape, with a burst of young blue stars forming in its wake. The gravitational interaction has transformed NGC 2936 from a normal spiral into its iconic porpoise shape.
