A Zodiacal Sky over Horseshoe Bend

NASA APOD · David Lane
COSMIC MESSAGE

A zodiacal light, caused by dust orbiting the Sun, extends upward from the central horizon. This band of sun-reflecting dust from the inner Solar System rises prominently before sunrise at certain times of the year. The dust mostly comes from Jupiter-family comets and slowly spirals into the Sun, here seen over Horseshoe Bend of the Colorado River.
