COSMIC MESSAGE
IC 342, a sprawling island universe, is similar in size to large, bright spiral galaxies in our neighborhood. It is a mere 10 million light-years distant in the constellation Camelopardalis. This galaxy would be prominent in our night sky if not for the veil of stars, gas, and dust clouds along the plane of our own Milky Way galaxy. Even though its light is dimmed, this sharp telescopic view reveals its structure.
