COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 281, also known as the Pacman Nebula, is an emission nebula powered by the young, massive stars of the open cluster IC 1590 within it. Intense radiation and stellar winds from these hot stars sculpt the surrounding gas and dust into columns and dense globules. These structures are visible in silhouette against the glowing gas. This nebula is about 9,200 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia.
