COSMIC MESSAGE

On September 17, 2017, two comets, C/2017 O1 ASASSN and C/2017 P1 Nishimura, appeared together in the same telescopic field of view. Comet ASASSN, discovered by a robotic sky survey, shows a greenish coma from fluorescing diatomic carbon molecules. It was about 7.2 light-minutes from Earth. Comet Nishimura, with its long tail, was outbound from the Sun.
