This image shows the Marius Hills region of the Moon. In 2009, Japan's SELENE spacecraft imaged a curious hole here, possibly a skylight to an underground lava tube. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter indicated that the Marius Hills Hole extends down nearly 100 meters and is several hundred meters wide. Ground-penetrating radar data from SELENE indicates large underground lava tubes may exist.
