The Gum Nebula Expanse

COSMIC MESSAGE
The Gum Nebula is so large and close that it is hard to see. We are only about 450 light-years from its front edge. This monochrome mosaic shows the faint emission region against the background of Milky Way stars. It is an interstellar expanse of glowing hydrogen gas.
