This year's Perseid meteor shower provided bright meteors and dark night skies for a great campout. Skygazers in southern Germany captured this brief but colorful flash with their own eyes. This two-second video, presented as a 50-frame GIF, was taken during the morning twilight of August 12. It shows the real-time development of a typical green Perseid meteor.
