COSMIC MESSAGE

The irregular galaxy NGC 55 is about 6 million light-years away and part of the Sculptor Galaxy Group. It spans roughly 50,000 light-years, seen nearly edge-on from Earth. Its shape is similar to the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way.
