Partial Eclipse over Beijing
NASA APOD · Li Zhaoqi
COSMIC MESSAGE
On January 6, the New Moon rose in silhouette with the Sun, as seen from northeastern Asia. This telephoto view through hazy skies captures the dramatic partial solar eclipse near its maximum. Early morning risers on Wanchun pavilion, overlooking Beijing's Forbidden City, watched the event. This was the first of five eclipses for 2019, with a total lunar eclipse following later this month.
