Moon and Venus Appulse over a Tree
NASA APOD · Alex Dzierba
COSMIC MESSAGE
Venus shines brightly next to the crescent Moon in this early morning sky over O'ahu, Hawaii. This close apparent alignment, called an appulse, happened about a week before the photo was taken. The Moon was a thin sliver, just a few days past new, making Venus an even more striking companion. Both objects were captured rising over Koko Crater.
