M106 is a spiral galaxy with an unusually bright center. It is one of the closest examples of a Seyfert galaxy, where vast amounts of glowing gas are thought to be falling into a central black hole. The core of M106 glows brightly in radio waves and X-rays, with twin jets running the length of the galaxy.
