NASA APOD · Dieter Willasch (Astro-Cabinet)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Carina Nebula, NGC 3372, spans over 300 light-years and lies about 8,500 light-years away. Stars are forming and dying in its center, leaving dark, dusty filaments. The pervasive red glow comes from hydrogen gas, while a trace amount of oxygen creates the blue glow.
