Trumpler 14 is a young star cluster, only about five million years old, on the edge of the Carina Nebula. Its many hot, bright stars are still forming and emit detectable X-rays. In older clusters, most stars this young have already died, typically in a supernova. The cluster spans about 40 light years and is 9,000 light years away.
