From Earth, the stars of open cluster NGC 2169 appear to form the number 37. This numerical pattern is a chance alignment, not an actual cosmic structure. The cluster is about 3,300 light-years away in Orion. NGC 2169 is a small cluster, spanning about seven light-years, with stars formed at the same time from the same gas cloud.
