SEIS: Listening for Marsquakes

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

What does Mars sound like? To find out, NASA's InSight Lander deployed SEIS, a sensitive seismometer designed to detect marsquakes. In early April, after picking up wind and lander motions, SEIS recorded an event consistent with a marsquake. While Mars doesn't have tectonic plates like Earth, seismic activity can occur from internal stresses.
