A Solstice Night in Paris
NASA APOD · Loic Michel
COSMIC MESSAGE
Noctilucent clouds, lit by the setting sun, hovered over Paris after the June solstice. These icy clouds form on meteoric dust or volcanic ash, high in the mesosphere. They are still in full sunlight even after sunset, creating a silvery glow in the night sky. This phenomenon is often seen at high latitudes during summer months.
