Spitzer's Orion

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Orion Nebula, an immense stellar nursery, is about 1,500 light-years away. This infrared image from the Spitzer Space Telescope shows the region spanning about 40 light-years. It was created from data used to monitor the brightness of the nebula's young stars, many of which are still surrounded by dusty, planet-forming disks. The hottest stars in Orion are only about 1 million years old.
