M45: The Pleiades Star Cluster

NASA APOD · Marco Lorenzi (Glittering Lights)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Pleiades star cluster is probably the most famous star cluster in the sky. Its bright stars are visible without binoculars, even from a light-polluted city. With a long exposure from a dark location, the dust cloud surrounding the cluster becomes very clear. This image took over 12 hours of exposure time and covers an area several times the size of the full moon.
