The Pelican Nebula, IC 5070, is a region of active star formation and evolving gas clouds. It is divided from the larger North America Nebula by a molecular cloud of dark dust. This image brings out the red light of interstellar hydrogen and the blue light from young, energetic stars. The Pelican Nebula is constantly changing as new stars are born.
