COSMIC MESSAGE
Sunspots are dark, planet-sized regions on the Sun's surface, the photosphere. They appear dark because they are cooler than the surrounding plasma, about 4,000 Kelvin compared to 6,000 Kelvin. These sunspots are part of active region AR2835, which is currently crossing the Sun. They are anchored by strong magnetic fields.
