Meteors and Auroras over Iceland

COSMIC MESSAGE
Kirkjufell mountain in western Iceland stands against a sky filled with meteors and auroras. This image, taken in mid-December 2012, captures the beautiful colors of the aurorae in a 25-second exposure. Several Perseid meteors streak across the sky, appearing green and red due to oxygen and nitrogen in Earth's atmosphere.
