Airglow Ripples over Tibet

COSMIC MESSAGE
Following a thunderstorm over Bangladesh, giant ripples of glowing air appeared over Tibet, forming a target-like pattern. This airglow is caused by atmospheric gravity waves, pressure waves that grow as they rise to about 90 kilometers high. Unlike auroras, airglow is due to chemical reactions in the upper atmosphere.
