On March 23, Venus and a young crescent moon were visible near the western horizon. This telephoto image captures Earth's brilliant evening star, the faint lunar night side, and the slender sunlit crescent. They pose alongside a church tower in San Pietro di Cadore, Italy. The subtle lunar illumination is earthshine, sunlight reflected from Earth's clouds.
