NASA APOD · Kimberly Sibbald
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Medulla Nebula, also known as CTB-1, is a supernova remnant from a star that exploded 10,000 years ago. The gas shell still glows from the heat generated by its collision with interstellar gas. The nebula gets its nickname from its brain-like shape. It is located toward the constellation Cassiopeia.
