Phobos, Mars's largest and innermost moon, is the darkest moon in our Solar System. Its unusual orbit and dark color suggest it might be a captured asteroid, a mix of ice and dark rock. ESA's Mars Express spacecraft captured this assigned-color image of Phobos near the edge of Mars in late 2021.
