COSMIC MESSAGE
Like our Moon, Venus exhibits phases as it orbits the Sun. This sequence of telescopic images shows Venus during its 2023 evening apparition. As Venus approached Earth, it appeared to grow larger, but its crescent narrowed as it moved closer to our line of sight with the Sun. This demonstrates the geometry of Venus's orbit relative to Earth and the Sun.
