This 'little planet' is actually Earth's South Pole, digitally warped into a panorama. It was recorded on August 21 outside the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica. The light of dawn approaches after nearly six months of darkness. The ceremonial pole marker is visible along the bottom.
