A Distorted Sunrise Eclipse

COSMIC MESSAGE
This unusual sunrise during a partial solar eclipse in 2019 shows the Sun appearing to rise in two pieces due to atmospheric distortion. The dark circle near the top of the reddened Sun is the Moon, but a layer of warm air over the sea acted like a giant lens, creating a second, distorted image of the Moon below it. This atmospheric effect created a unique view of the eclipse.
