LBN 86: The Eagle Ray Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
This dark nebula, officially cataloged as SH2-63 and LBN 86, is composed of gas and dust that coincidentally resembles an eagle ray. The interstellar dust appears light brown as it blocks and reddens visible light from behind it. Dark nebulae glow primarily in infrared light, but also reflect visible light from surrounding stars.
