The Ghosts of Gamma Cas

Gamma Cassiopeiae, a bright star in the constellation Cassiopeia, lights up this field of view. It shares the scene with IC 59 and IC 63, interstellar clouds of gas and dust. These clouds are about 600 light-years away and are slowly eroding under the energetic radiation from Gamma Cassiopeiae. The star itself is about 19 times more massive than the Sun.
