NASA APOD · David Payne
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Jellyfish Nebula, IC 443, is a bubble-shaped supernova remnant, the expanding debris cloud from a massive star that exploded. Its tentacles extend from a bright arcing ridge of emission. Light from the explosion reached Earth over 30,000 years ago. This nebula, found near the bright star Eta Geminorum, is about 5,000 light-years away.
