COSMIC MESSAGE
Earth's orbit around the Sun is not a perfect circle, it's an ellipse. Our planet reaches its closest point to the Sun, called perihelion, in early January. This year, it was about three million miles closer than at aphelion, the farthest point in July. The distance from the Sun does not determine the seasons, but rather the tilt of Earth's axis.
