The Cigar Galaxy from Hubble and Webb
The Cigar Galaxy, M82, is a starburst galaxy casting out red-glowing gas and dust from its center. It was stirred up by a recent pass near its neighbor, the spiral galaxy M81. The outflowing material is driven by the combined particle winds of many stars. This image combines data from the Hubble and Webb space telescopes.
