Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle is the parent of the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. This Halley-type comet has an orbital period of about 133 years. Its last visit to the inner Solar System was in 1992, when this color image was recorded. The photo shows Swift-Tuttle's greenish coma, a long ion tail, and a dust tail.
