COSMIC MESSAGE
The Pleiades, a bright star cluster about 450 light-years away, is easily visible to the unaided eye. Formed about 100 million years ago, it is expected to last another 250 million years. Our Sun was likely born in a similar cluster, but its stellar companions dispersed long ago. The Pleiades cluster is pictured here over Half Dome.
