Moonquakes Surprisingly Common
Apollo seismometers recorded 62 moonquakes between 1972 and 1977. These quakes happen within 100 kilometers of the surface. Unlike on Earth, the Moon's stiff rock vibrates for many minutes after a quake. This data helps us understand the Moon's interior.
