Spiral galaxy M81 and irregular galaxy M82 are locked in a gravitational interaction. M81 is surrounded by blue arms and red nebulae, while M82 shows a light central line and glowing red gas. Their gravity has dramatically affected each other over the past billion years, causing star formation in M82.
