COSMIC MESSAGE
A thermonuclear explosion on a white dwarf star, called a nova, is currently visible. Nova V462 Lupi, pictured here, was discovered in June toward the constellation Lupus. It is faintly visible to the unaided eye in the Southern Hemisphere, but binoculars make it easier to spot. This event happens near the central plane of our Milky Way galaxy.
