NASA APOD · José J. Chambó; Text: Cecilia Chirenti (NASA GSFC, UMCP, CRESST II)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchoś) is currently making its way through the inner Solar System. Its hyperbolic orbit indicates it will likely become an interstellar traveler, never to return. This 30-minute exposure captures the comet near its closest approach to Earth, at roughly the same distance as the Sun.
