Chamaeleon I Molecular Cloud

NASA APOD · Robert Eder
COSMIC MESSAGE

Dark markings and bright nebulae in the Chamaeleon I molecular cloud indicate active star formation. Located about 650 light-years away, this region is a stellar nursery. Dusty reflection nebulae like Ced 110 and Ced 111 glow blue from scattered starlight, while the orange, V-shaped Cha 1-2 reflection nebula stands out, showing where new stars are emerging from their dusty cocoons.
