Meteor over the Bay of Naples

This brilliant meteor streak was created by a cosmic dust grain entering Earth's upper atmosphere. The serendipitous moment was captured from the resort island of Capri, in the Bay of Naples, on February 8. The meteor, by chance, ended its streak above the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius.
