NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Look closely at the center of this photo, and you'll see a spiral galaxy called Dwingeloo 1. This galaxy was only discovered in 1994 because its light is obscured by dust, gas, and bright stars in our own Milky Way. All the individual stars you see are within our galaxy. Dwingeloo 1 is a large galaxy, only five times more distant than the Andromeda Galaxy, M31.
