COSMIC MESSAGE

Planetary nebulae are gas clouds, not related to our Solar System's planets. While hundreds have been cataloged, aspects of their formation are still debated. Now, another mystery has come to light: what created the fast-moving gas clouds that appear around planetary nebulae? These knots of dense gas are called FLIERs, for Fast Low-Ionization Emission Regions.
