GRB970508 Delivers Predicted Radio Emission

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

New evidence supports the idea that Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) are the most powerful explosions known. Two weeks prior to this observation, a GRB was historic for its prompt X-ray and optical emissions. The visible light showed color gaps, indicating absorbing gas at a distant redshift of 0.8. If GRBs are this far away, radio emission was predicted to peak around this time.
