The Helix Nebula, about 500 light years away in Aquarius, is a dying Sun-like star. This infrared image from the Infrared Space Observatory shows the expanding shells of molecular hydrogen gas. While dust is expected in such nebulae, its strong infrared radiation remains a mystery.
