COSMIC MESSAGE

October's sky features Venus as a brilliant evening star, the brightest object in Earth's sky after the sun and moon. It appears near Mars and the red supergiant Antares above the southwestern horizon. Because Venus is closer to the sun than Earth, it always stays close to the sun in our sky, appearing as either a morning or an evening star.
