COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sun is just one orange dot in a vast ocean of gas clouds. These clouds are so thin we usually look right through them. This false-color drawing shows our location within the Milky Way, surrounded by nearly spherical bubbles of gas. These bubbles are left over from recent star formation. The purple filaments nearby are gas shells from star formation about four million years ago.
